The Digital Shift in Logistics: Speed, Smarts & Stronger Relationships

For the past ten years Freightos has been tracking the development of online freight sales.

While no forwarder or carrier offered instant online freight quotes in 2015, this year’s survey found that half of the top forwarders and four of the five largest ocean carriers now offer instant quoting.

The report shows that more Logistics Service Providers than ever are introducing digital sales as a key part of their customer journey. But while many use online quotes to attract new customers, others are leveraging it to improve customer experience for their existing shippers, in this still very much relationship-based industry.

This year’s study also explores:

  • LSP and shipper attitudes toward digital freight
  • How forwarders are navigating the introduction of tech in a relationship-based business
  • The innovative ways LSPs are leveraging digital quotes, including as a platform for premium products, upsells, and other features aimed  at making the relationship sticky
  • How online sales represent a unique opportunity for forwarders serving SMB shippers
