Freightos Global Freight Outlook – July 2024

Ocean rates increased last week on the major tradelanes. But the pace of the climb has slowed and prices may have already reached their peak as daily rates this week are ticking down, utilization levels to Europe have decreased, and there are reports of carriers offering reductions alongside no announced upcoming surcharge increases for these lanes.

In our July Freight Market Outlook video update, Judah Levine, Freightos’ Head of Research, presents an-depth, data-driven view into the premature start of global freight’s peak season exploring key ocean and air cargo trend, and potential Q3/Q4 outcomes. He is joined by Oliver Esch, VP Business Development at SHIPSTA, to get an early look at how congestion and ensuing rate volatility may impact 2025’s tender season.
