Transport logistics: Cargosoft and WebCargo announce integration to facilitate more efficient global air cargo shipment booking and management
Air freight rates, capacity and eBookings across dozens of airlines to be integrated via CargoSoft’s freight forwarding TMS
As the leading trade fair transport logistics, the Breman-based logistics software service provider and the booking and pricing platform WebCargo operated by Freightos have agreed on a cooperation. The content of the agreement is the integration from main WebCargo by Freightos functions into CargoSoft’s Transport Management System (TMS). The cooperation has already been preceded by a pilot phase with selected test customers.
“By using WebCargo, the user can request current prices from the airlines directly from CargoSoft TMS, make bookings and integrate the data into the order.”
Friedrich Schierenberg, CEO, CargoSoft.
This automatically links and accelerates previously separate and time-consuming processes in air freight. “The inclusion of air freight rates in the freight forwarding software reduces the workload of employees, ensures that the most up-to-date conditions are always available and avoids double entries,” says Manel Galindo, CEO of WebCargo by Freightos. “Here at WebCargo, we’re on a mission to make air cargo rates and booking across airlines easily accessible to customers. Our integration with CargoSoft will help forwarders increase their productivity, while improving integration and automation in the industry, at large.”
The partnership is a prime example of the industry’s hybrid status as demanding both static freight rates as well as real-time connectivity to spot rates. As a first step, CargoSoft has integrated WebCargo’s airfreight contract rates into its own rate management software, which is used as a module for the TMS. Pilot test partners have confirmed that quoting using these rates is more reliable and faster as a result of this integration.
In the second stage WebCargo eBookings will also be integrated into CargoSoft’s software.
“The detailed information has been exchanged so that we can start implementing the integration after transport logistics. Initially, a pilot operation is planned. Our goal is market-ready completion by the end of 2023,” says Schierenberg.
